Troon, in South Ayrshire, is situated on the coast, about eight miles north of Ayr and only three miles northwest of Glasgow Prestwick International Airport. Lying across the Firth of Clyde, the Isle of Arran can be seen. Troon is also a port with freight and ferry services.
Troon is famous for its Royal Troon golf course, host to the Open Golf Championship, which is typically held every seven years.
There are six wonderful golf courses, including the Open Championship venue, Royal Troon close to Westwinds House and within easy reach there are the famous Prestwick and Turnberry courses.
Other recreational facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, bowling green and in the summer months, pitch and putt and crazy golf.
Troon is close to the beautiful island of Arran, historic Ayrshire and its villages and the world famous Robert Burns Cottage and heritage trail.
